Mitihoon – Premier League, JAS and British Embassy unite to support anti-piracy efforts in Thailand
The Premier League hosted a reception in Bangkok alongside its broadcast partner JAS and the British Embassy in Thailand, bringing together representatives from government, law enforcement and the media to highlight the collective efforts being made to combat digital piracy and protect consumers in Thailand.
The event demonstrated the strong partnership between the Premier League, JAS, the British Government and Thai authorities, reinforcing a shared commitment to tackling intellectual property infringement and encouraging fans to enjoy Premier League football in the best-quality and safest way possible through authorised platforms.
Among the attendees were representatives from the British Embassy, JAS, Thai government departments, law enforcement agencies and industry stakeholders committed to strengthening the fight against piracy and protecting consumers. The event also provided an opportunity to recognise recent progress made through collaborative anti-piracy initiatives in Thailand, with Nicola Pollitt, British Ambassador to Thailand, among the key attendees.
These efforts have included multiple enforcement operations and law enforcement raids against criminal networks involved in illegal streaming, the blocking of infringing websites and ongoing consumer education through the Boot Out Piracy campaign, which highlights the risks associated with piracy. Just earlier this week, the Bureau of Technology and Cyber Crime and the Bureau of Special Operations of the Department of Special Investigations (DSI), following referrals by the Premier League and JAS, conducted criminal raids in six locations across Thailand and took down the ‘Doopenteam’ network of websites, one of the most notorious pirate services in Thailand.
The reception also provided an opportunity to highlight the risks faced by consumers who access illegal streaming services, including exposure to cybercrime, scams, malware and fraudulent activity. Research commissioned by the Premier League has previously found that pirate streaming websites expose consumers to significantly higher levels of risk than legitimate online services. In Thailand, the most popular pirate websites are over six times more likely to expose fans to scams[1].
The partners reiterated that revenue generated through legitimate broadcasting agreements helps support the wider football ecosystem, including grassroots football and community initiatives that benefit fans and participants across Thailand. By choosing authorised services, supporters help ensure continued investment in football and contribute to the long-term growth of the game.

These successes demonstrate what can be achieved when broadcasters, governments, law enforcement agencies and rights holders work together. We look forward to continuing these efforts with our partners in Thailand.”

The reception also showcased the Premier League’s wider anti-piracy programme, one of the most comprehensive in global sport, which combines advanced content protection measures with collaboration between broadcasters, industry groups, governments and law enforcement agencies around the world. The League continues to work closely with partners across Asia to disrupt illegal streaming operations and raise awareness of the risks piracy poses to consumers.
